Zorzal Duo

Lynn Gumert & Carlos Fernandez

 Zorzal Duo has been performing Latin American folk music, Sephardic music, and nueva canción (“new song”) for over 20 years. They have performed at the Smithsonian Institution, at the Archives of Traditional Music, the IU Art Museum, and the John Waldron Arts Center in Bloomington, IN, at schools in Costa Rica, at the Solomon Schechter School in East Brunswick, at the Center for Latin Arts and Culture at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and as part of the Global Hearts Concert Series sponsored by “Who is My Neighbor” in Highland Park. They have also presented numerous bilingual educational programs for children and youth at libraries, schools, and community centers.

 The members of the duo are ethnomusicologist and Director of the Center for Latino Arts and Culture at Rutgers University Carlos Fernández (Tenor, Guitar) and composer Lynn Gumert (Soprano, Recorders).
